23 years after I was born in San Pedro, I opened the Blue Water Grill in the fall of 2001. In my time away from the island, I had some great adventures. Clutch City & the OJ chase. St. Agnes & Georgetown. A stint in the Peace Corps cut short due to dengue. A stint in SF cut short due to that city not having a real summer. Studies in Salamanca & ruckus in Rio. But none of those places were home, which is why I came back to Belize.

 

When we started, if a customer got what she ordered, I was happy.  Water refills, table linens, & matching silverware?  Doubt it.  Someone calling for reservations? A prank call. We've come a long way.  We were named Restaurant of the Year in Belize in 2010.  We were 1 of 3 finalists for the same award in 2011.  We have 26 full time staff now, most of whom have been with us since '05 & several since day 1.  Best of all, we've donated more than $40K to Liberty Children's Home since December '09.  And we pay for high school for our employees' kids.
